Pellegrino presents the new Single Barrel No. 018
A limited edition that celebrates the uniqueness of a single cask, continuing the journey of excellence and innovation in the world of Marsala.
Following the success of its first Marsala Single Barrel, Pellegrino continues its pioneering path with the launch of the second edition: Single Barrel No. 018, a Marsala Vergine Riserva DOC 2005 aged for over 20 years in a single 20hl oak cask.
This project marks a turning point in Marsala production, reaffirming Pellegrino’s ability to innovate while honoring tradition, by selecting and enhancing the unique expression of a single cask. A production philosophy that celebrates the interaction between wine, wood, and oxygen, giving rise to a Marsala with a one-of-a-kind personality. The Pellegrino family’s story dates back to 1880, when it began marketing Marsala, Sicily’s most renowned wine. Today, after almost 145 years and six generations, the winery remains at the forefront of enhancing this extraordinary wine heritage.
Still today, in the historic cellars of Marsala, the wine rests in a place full of atmosphere: the scents of Marsala and wood blend in an aura of silence and anticipation, while long rows of casks guard the secret of unique aging processes. It is here that, year after year, the cellar master selects the most extraordinary Marsala wines to give them new life. Single Barrel No. 018 is the result of this ongoing pursuit of excellence. Made from
Grillo, Catarratto, and Inzolia grapes grown in the Marsala hinterland, it stands out for its deep golden color with coppery highlights. On the nose, it reveals an intense and complex bouquet with notes of toasted almond, tobacco, and leather, enriched by hints of citrus peel, carob, and delicate smoky nuances. On the palate, it is enveloping and penetrating, with a perfect balance between freshness and savoriness and an unexpectedly long finish.
Crafted for true connoisseurs and collectors, Single Barrel No. 018 is produced in a limited and numbered edition, reaffirming Cantine Pellegrino’s commitment to promoting Marsala excellence through a project that continues to chart new paths in the world of this iconic wine.
Perfect as a meditation wine, it pairs elegantly with 80% dark chocolate, cocoa beans, or a cigar. Serve at a temperature of 12°–14°C.
Wine shop price: €90 (numbered edition).
